How the Orchard Is Doing This Season

Dear Friends,

We wanted to give you a quick update from the orchard and let you know how this year's growing season has been progressing.

Like many growers in our area, we were affected by the late spring frost and freeze, which significantly reduced our peach crop. Our first peach variety produced no fruit, the second yielded about a half bushel, and the third gave us a peck. While the harvest is certainly smaller than we'd hoped, we're grateful to finally have fresh peaches available for you to enjoy.

As the season continues, a few more peach varieties are expected to ripen, although it's still too early to know exactly how much fruit they will produce. We're optimistic and hopeful that they'll surprise us.

This summer's unusually dry conditions, combined with periods of extreme heat and humidity, have also created challenges for both our peaches and apples. Although we've been able to irrigate most of our orchard, there's simply no substitute for a good, steady rain from Mother Nature.

We're keeping a close eye on our apple crop as it develops. The weather may cause some varieties to mature earlier than usual, and we'll be monitoring them carefully to ensure they're picked at just the right time. Our hope is that they'll continue to grow into the quality fruit you've come to expect from us.
